Our EAKC Camp Out 2013 will take place Friday, July 26th – Sunday, July 28th at the beautiful lakefront campsite, Wesley Woods, in Williams Bay, Wisconsin near Lake Geneva. (click here for a map).

Key Note Speaker, Jane Kurtz, Author
Jane is the award-winning author of 30 books and spent most of her childhood in Ethiopia where her parents moved to work for the Presbyterian Church when she was only two years old.  Stories gave her the voice to talk about her experiences in Ethiopia and bridge gaps with people back in the U.S.  Jane will talk about the power of stories to connect us as families, to plant big dreams, build community and celebrate an Ethiopian heritage.

CAMP RECREATION ACTIVITIES
·        Pontoon Boat and Tubing (30 minute rides for up to 10 people)
·        Sail Boats with Captain (3 can accommodate 6, 6 or 4 passengers)
·        Archery (ages 10 and up, minimum 3 and maximum 6 each session)

Children under 11 MUST be accompanied by a responsible adult.

Birth Land Visit Panel Discussion
Roundtable discussion with adoptees and their families to learn first hand about their recent trips to Ethiopia.

Children’s Session with Jane Kurtz  (Ages 4 -7)
Jane will talk about her childhood in Ethiopia and share stories she heard there including some told through Ethiopian songs.  She will show how these stories influenced her books like “Fire on the Mountain” and “Trouble”.

Ethiopian Craft Time for Families – All ages welcome. Led by EAKC parents Claire Seguin and Gayle Worland.
Learn how to make a gebeta board like the one featured in Jane Kurtz’s book, “Trouble”. Use your board to play a traditional game that is also known as Mancala.
Children must be 7 years old to participate without a parent or sibling 11 years old or over.

Greased watermelon, free throw contest, King of the pad, longest underwater handstand, and free style swim competition from pier to rope and back again.

Croquet, Horseshoes, Volleyball, Basketball available until 3PM.  Fishing also available with own pole (no rental poles are available).  Bait can be purchased nearby camp, but not on site.
